Hello,,, it’s me, Matt Ellentuck. You might know me as SB Nation’s lead WNBA reporter for the last four years, or the guy who did a bad haircut on Twitter. Wow is that my whole resume? Guess so.
Anyway, on May 1, I was furloughed by SB Nation and I’m unsure if I’ll have my job back. I love covering women’s basketball too much to sit and wait through three months of unemployment, though. So folks,,, welcome to Here’s Basketball, my new newsletter.
If you’ve read my work at SB Nation, I’m gonna try to do most of that same stuff except on a different platform because,,, well I can. If you’re new around here, feel free to check out work I’ve done in the past including a conversation with Sue Bird and Kyrie Irving about their friendship, a deep dive from Las Vegas on what makes the Aces the blueprint for WNBA success, and highlights from when I got rocked by Aerial Powers in a game of WNBA 2K.
My goal is to publish two or three newsletters per week entirely about women’s basketball with a focus on the WNBA. I’ll write about the fun Twitter beefs and break down statistical looks into how players are succeeding. I’ve developed sources around the league for newsbreaking and original reporting, too. This newsletter should be a fun mix of everything you need to know in women’s hoops.
Additionally, sometime soon, I’m going to stream interviews and hangouts with WNBA players, coaches, trainers and more on my Twitch account. You can follow my account here, and watch my first video which was live during the WNBA draft with Mystics PG Natasha Cloud, Sky F Gabby Williams and trainer Alex Bazzell. (More Twitch details to come.)
For now, everything is absolutely free!
I hope you’ll subscribe and spread the word.
And, most importantly, if you don’t like my newsletter, get in the weightroom or GET OUT OF MY POST.
Tweet nicely to each other,
Matt Ellentuck
