Hello friends,
It’s been a long time since I’ve been on here. There’s a reason for that. I’ve spent the last year and change freelancing all over the place and I’m so happy to say that… I won’t be doing that anymore!
The short: I got a job!
I’m the head of editorial for The Gaming Society. We’re a brand new company aiming to help fans learn how to sports bet with insights from some of your favorite athletes.
[You can help support my work by signing up for our newsletter here.]
Some more details.
The company was founded by Jaymee Messler, who you might know as co-founder of The Players Tribune, and Kevin Garnett — yes that one. It’s a dream team.
You can read all about the company in Forbes.
We have a women’s sports newsletter that I hope you'll sign up for!
Wanna hear something sick?
Nneka Ogwumike has joined The Gaming Society as an advisor. I spoke with her for our first Bet On Women Report (named after her Players Tribune piece) newsletter that came out on Monday. You can read it here.
And here’s the link to sign up for The Bet On Women Report and our other sports newsletter, The GS Report.
Thank you!
Seriously, thank you. All of your support for this newsletter helped me secure several freelance opportunities, and now, this full-time job.
After my layoff early in the pandemic I had no idea if anyone would still continue to support me and my work, but I’ve been overwhelmed. There are more than 2,200 Here’s Basketball readers which feels totally nuts. I’m a Twitter meme boy.
Anyway, I hope to see you soon at The Gaming Society.
Or else I’ll be seeing you in the lobby.
- Matt
Go, Matt, go!
