Hello and welcome back, friends. This post is for those who’ve known me/my work for a little.
I’ve missed you. Have you missed me? I mean probably not that much because I still tweet.
Anywho.
I’ll give you the short and the very short and the shortest and then we can get back to the fun.
The short: I’ve been gone from the writing space for a bit because I suffered my second media layoff in 7 years last year. That finally gave me the kick to find a full-time job outside of the industry. I have a new job now and it pays me real money and gives me real time off and lets me have a real life after 5 pm. I’ve never had any of those things in my professional life and I enjoy them.
… But also I very obviously miss covering the WNBA because I have a lot of fun doing it.
The very short: I’m going to write here again. For now it’s entirely free until I can prove to myself and others that I can provide enough content to warrant money. It’s going to be fun because nobody can lay me off except me, and right now I think I’m doing a great job and also I will not be pivoting to video.
The shortest: Starting tomorrow, read my newsletter and share it with other people so it can grow and we can all have fun.
Back to the question at hand.
Is Caitlin Clark signing too many autographs?
A thoughtful Twitter user asked:
Here’s my answer: LMFAO WHAT. She’s jumped from the college game to the pros in a matter of weeks. I think the autographs will be fine.
This is going to be a fun year with so many new (and unwell) fans entering the WNBA space and I can’t wait to laugh along with y’all. (If you see any posts like the autograph one out in the wild please send them to me to include in this newsletter.)
But aside from the jokes, I really want to help the new fans get what’s going on and understand things such as why Kahleah Copper and Sophie Cunningham being teammates is extremely strange.
Anywho.
Tomorrow I’ll have my annual Which Team Should I Root For blog that I think you should share with your friends who are just starting to watch the WNBA this year.
See you in the morning.
Oh, also in case you missed it.
Kelsey Plum is white, confirmed.
Have a great one.
White. Confirmed. Lmao
Glad to have Here’s Basketball back!
Very glad to see you're writing regularly again, especially this season of the W which promises to be special. Good luck. I look forward to reading you.
